One of the questions we field the most at our clinic is how often you should get a chiropractic adjustment. Unfortunately, there is no simple answer to this question. There are a host of factors that will contribute to the number and frequency of adjustments you may need. In many cases, patients require more frequent treatments at the beginning, slowly tapering off as the body begins to heal. One of the main factors that go into determining how many chiropractic treatments you need is the injury or condition you are seeking help with. From simple back adjustments to realigning the vertebrae and preventive care, we treat patients with a wide range of concerns.
How Can a Chiropractor Help?
It is quite common for chiropractors to treat back and neck problems in a matter of a few visits. Helping our patients find relief is our top priority, so this may take fewer visits or longer, more frequent sessions. We believe in doing everything we can to achieve this goal, and there often is no “quick fix”. We believe in the power of long-term corrective care and strive to ensure our patients not only understand this philosophy but reap the benefits.
Whether you’ve been in an accident or are suffering from chronic back or neck pain, the first thing we will do is evaluate your body and determine where you are out of alignment. The body’s tendons, ligaments, muscles, and nervous system all work together to keep the body functioning and healthy. When any of these components become misaligned, it can result in serious pain and discomfort. This misalignment is not normal, which means it is not good for the body. It will only be a matter of time until you start to experience pains, aches, and other injuries.
How Often Should I Get Adjusted?
Again, this will depend on the patient and their needs and injuries. For some, a weekly adjustment may be necessary, whereas others can go every month or only when they are experiencing pain and discomfort. Because the goal of chiropractic adjustments is to provide long-term relief, not just relief for this week, our patients must understand this commitment and dedication. We work together with our patients to ensure they are improving and working towards the end goal of a healthy spine.
However, we understand that life doesn’t always allow for weekly adjustments. As much as we would love to see every single one of you weekly, that isn’t realistic. We encourage you to listen to your body and discuss your treatment plan with our chiropractors. Of course, the number of adjustments you need will depend on the severity of your injury. Whether you need maintenance-type treatments (for those who have completed a treatment plan for an injury but want to prevent future problems) or adjustments for an ongoing injury, Premier Injury Clinics of DFW is here to help.
